Micro-Chipping

A microchip is a small device (about the size of a grain of rice) which contains a unique number conforming to Australian and international standards. The chip is inserted into your pet between the shoulder blades with one quick injection, performed by your veterinarian.

The details from the microchip are forwarded to the Central Animal Records National Database. If your pet becomes lost, and is taken to a microchip scanning centre (usually a vet or welfare centre) your pet will be scanned and their microchip number will be displayed. You will then be contacted and reunited with your lost pet.

The Hobart Cat Centre is a strong supporter of microchipping.
