Volunteering
The Hobart Cat Centre relies heavily on community support both financially and through the tireless work of our volunteers.
If you have a few hours or perhaps a day here and there to help out it would be much appreciated.
It is a very rewarding experience to be part of a dedicated team assisting in the re-homing of abandoned cats and kittens and the promotion of "Responsible Pet Ownership".
We are in particular need of volunteers at the Hobart Cat Centre's Glenorchy and Margate Op-Shops.
The Op-Shop managers would appreciate any help with general tidying and cleaning each week day. If you are interested, they would love to hear from you. Contact the Centre for details.
Other ways in which you can help are:
- Join the Hobart Cat Centre as a general member
- Become a member of the Hobart Cat Centre Committee
- Become an Animal Attendant Assistant by volunteering at the Centre. Duties can include cleaning and re-setting up of cages/pens, laundry, changing of bedding, preparing food and feeding the animals, grooming and other duties/attention as required.
- Foster care - the Hobart Cat Centre often requires adult, short-term foster carers to provide a loving home environment for pregnant or nursing cats and their kittens, or for sick cats or kittens.
- Administration Assistant - from time to time help is required with data entry, enveloping, letterbox dropping, newsletters etc.
Being a volunteer is extremely rewarding and helps to ensure the successful continuation of the Cat Centre. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us on (03) 6278 2111 or via our online form.
